1. Know the Governing Requirements
TCF designs in Saudi Arabia must consider Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards (SAES), the Saudi Building Code (SBC), SBC 801 (Saudi Fire Code) and the Application of Saudi Aramco Building Code to Contractor Camp and Project Support Buildings (SA-07-005-2012).
2. Facility Programming
Every camp starts with numbers: bed capacity, dining seats, kitchen throughput, prayer capacity, recreation areas, laundry loads and utility demand. Getting the program right avoids overcrowded, non-compliant facilities.
3. Site Layout and Utilities
Roads, parking, water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage and electrical distribution must be planned as one integrated system — with fire protection and life safety designed in from day one, not added later.
4. Buildable and Cost-Effective
Prefabricated and modular buildings dominate camp construction. Designs must suit modular construction, minimize civil works and stay practical for remote sites.
